Color Me Music: Alliance for Students of Color

Student group focuses on diversity and inclusion in Music.

Color Me Music is a new student group formed by College of Music students whose aim is to provide support for collaborations among music students of color and to encourage new collaborations. Conceived in 2018 by students Jordyn Davis and Jadrian Tarver, the group had a positive impact early on by helping with the programming of the annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day commemorative concert in January. Since then they have held regular meetings, held a Black History Month recital and more. Jordyn and Jadrian are featured in the video above to that explains the origins of the group that is continuing to evolve in exciting ways. We commend these students as they advocate for students of color in music as well as other multicultural communities at Michigan State University.
