Gigline FAQ

What is the MSU Gigline?

Gigline is a service for individuals and organizations seeking performers for weddings, receptions, parties, and other special events, both on- and off-campus. Engagements range from one-time appearances to recurring shows. The roster, which includes strings, winds, brass, piano, and vocal performers, features internal talent from the MSU College of Music.

How does Gigline work?

Clients email the Gigline Administrator with their event date, time, venue, fee, ensemble preference, and any special details.

Who are the musicians who are listed on Gigline?

All musicians who use Gigline are current students at the MSU College of Music.  Each performer is vetted by a renowned faculty member at the College of Music.

What kind of musicians are available?

We have many options, according to what is best for your event. We offer solo instruments (including piano and harp), ensembles (brass, wind, string and voice; duos, trios, and quartets), instrumentalists and vocalists with accompaniment, vocal groups, jazz groups, percussion groups, salsa band, and more.

How much do the students usually charge?

Students and ensembles set their own rates, and fees are negotiated between the client and musician(s). Fees depend on the length of the engagement, type of service, number of musicians involved, and are comparable to standard professional rates.

What if I do not hear from any students?

If you do not hear from students in a reasonable amount of time (3-5 Business Days), please contact the Gigline Administrator. We will do our best to help you connect with a musician. Please note, this is a referral service only, and we are not able to guarantee availability.
