Women’s Chamber ensemble, conducted by Sandra Snow
Women’s Chamber Ensemble will perform the mid-west premiere of “Home In Me” by composer Andrea Clearfield. The commission features poetry of Sienna Craig and is the first of three works on the idea of home as a place of belonging (or not), both place-bound and as a metaphor for the human need for connection. Scored for piano and percussion, the work is rhapsodic and colorful, featuring a variety of percussion instruments. Also featured will be a set of African-American spirituals, arranged and composed, including music from Ronald Kean’s The Journey of Harriet Tubman.
