Nobilis Piano Trio
In residence at Michigan State University’s College of Music and hailed as the trio that “dares to be new, dazzling audiences with programs featuring music from traditional to jazz, with the highest levels of virtuosity and musicianship,” the NOBILIS Piano Trio is recognized as one of the most exciting trios on the musical horizon.
The NOBILIS Piano Trio’s repertoire ranges from traditional masterpieces by Tchaikovsky, Schubert, Smetana, and Dvorák to innovative original arrangements of music from greats like Dizzy Gillespie, John Coltrane, Irving Berlin, and others. The trio’s recent and upcoming performances include appearances throughout North and South America and Europe.
Pianist Stephen Prutsman, violinist Ruggero Allifranchini, and cellist Suren Bagratuni each have distin
guished careers as soloists, recitalists, and chamber musicians, and
have appeared individually and as a trio with major orchestras and premier chamber music series throughout the United States and Europe. Distinguished alumni of the Moscow, Peabody, and New England conservatories, the members are the recipients of numerous prestigious awards, including the Avery Fisher Career Grant and medals from Tchaikovsky International competitions. Also active as recording artists with discs released on Sony and Naxos labels, they are heard frequently on National Public Radio’s “Performance Today” and numerous syndicated and local radio programs in the United States and abroad, including CBC, Berlin Radio, Radio France, BBC London, CBC Radio Canada, and WGBH and WUBR radio (Boston).
