Eisenhower
Grant integrates arts into the K-12 Curriculum in local schools
Mark
Sullivan, professor of composition, received his third federally funded
Eisenhower Teacher Development Grant in 2003 to continue a program called "The Creative Process: Using Artist Residencies and Technology to Model
Ways of Integrating the Arts into the Curriculum." The grant amount increased
from $40,000 to $99,200 for the 2003-04 academic year. The project involves
using artist residencies to model ways of integrating the arts into the
K-12 curriculum in Lansing-area schools. Artists
interact with students and teachers, providing performances and creating
works with them.
