Academy Winds, the newest member in the United States Air Force Academy’s family of musical ensembles. This sextet is comprised of instrumentalists from every section of the concert band to include woodwinds, double reeds, brass and percussion.

 

 

Tim Adams, principal timpanist in the Pittsburg Symphony Orchestra.

 

 

Marco Albonetti, professor of saxophone at Bari State Conservatory in Italy.

 

 

American Classic Trombone Quartet, one of the premiere trombone quartets in the world. Formed in 1987, it is the only trombone quartet to have won first prize at the Keystone Brass Institute International Brass Chamber Music Competition sponsored by the Summit Brass. Its members are MSU School of Music faculty member Ava Ordman, Jay Evans, Charles Vernon and Don Lucas.

 

Army Blues Jazz Ensemble, the premier jazz band to the U.S. Army. The ensemble strives to promote the growth and development of America’s only native art form – jazz. The Army Blues Jazz Ensemble has performed at international jazz festivals throughout the world, including the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland and the Monterey Jazz Festival in California.

 

 

Thomas Bacon, horn. He has been principal horn with the Syracuse Symphony, Detroit Symphony, Houston Symphony, and the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestras.

 

 


Nathaniel Bartlett, percussionist. He teaches master classes and lectures at universities around the country, and gives private marimba and percussion lessons at his studios in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania.

 

 


Jacob Cameron, assistant professor of tuba at East Carolina University.

 

Nilze Carvalho, acclaimed artist on the cavaquinho, acoustic guitar and bandolim. She began performing at age 6, and started her international career at 15. She is considered one of the most important figures in the new generation of samba singers.
