Venue: W.J. Beal Botanical Garden
Rain Location: Cook Recital Hall, Music Building
Pull up a blanket or chair at the W.J. Beal Botanical Garden and enjoy the ambience of music and garden flora during MSU’s free outdoor concert series featuring MSU College of Music chamber groups. Free tours of the garden will begin after the concerts.
Music Performance, 7:00 PM
This harp concert for Music in the Garden will feature a variety of pieces that represent the fun and joy of summer weather and nature performed by MSU harp student Belle Coty. The pieces by harp composers such as Tailleferre, Grandjany and more will bring to life the calming summer themes such as flowing water, children playing in the fields, and dancing among the flowers.
Garden Tour: Medicinal Plants, 8:00 PM
Join Beal Botanical Garden curator Peter Carrington for an introduction to identifying and choosing plants that can be utilized when looking for relief. These are the plants that were important in medicine before the age of antibiotics and cortisone, and are still considered helpful today. We will discuss identification and chemistry and the risks of being your own doctor.
Bring your own picnic or enjoy selections from the MSU Food Truck, including complimentary MSU Dairy Store ice cream.
