Opera Theatre and Philharmonic Orchestra presented Maury Yeston's and Arthur Kopit's Broadway Musical, Nine, Fall 2003
The MSU Opera Theatre and Philharmonic Orchestra presented Maury Yeston's
and Arthur Kopit's sexy, brash Broadway musical Nine on campus in Fall
2003. Nine is the story of film legend Guido Contini, who is suffering
a complete artistic block and surrounded entirely by women, from his wife
and mistress, to his mother and muse. Guido had to decide whether to grow
up to be 40, or stay Nine forever.
Nine was nominated for six Pulsar Awards for Lansing area theatre: Best Musical,
Best Director (Melanie Helton, faculty), Best Actor (John Bragle, senior,
music education), Best Supporting Actress (Kristi Hughes, senior, vocal
performance), Best Featured Actress (Lateena Dinkins, masters, vocal performance)
and Collin Mallory (winner, local Lansing area middle school student).
