Brandon Ulrich

BM, 2001

Brandon Ulrich has been teaching at Stoney Creek High School since the school's inception. He has seen the music program grow from two Bands, two Choirs, and Marching Band to three Concert Bands, five Choirs, Marching Band, and Music Theory.  Currently, Mr. Ulrich is conductor of the Wind Ensemble, Men's Choir, Concert Choir, Women's Chorale, and Chamber Singers, as well as directing the annual Musical Production. Mr. Ulrich earned his Bachelor of Music Degree from Michigan State University in 2001, where he was the recipient of the Alumni Association's Outstanding Academic Achievement Award for the College of Arts and Letters. He earned his Master of Music in Instrumental Conducting from Southern Oregon University in 2005, and has been honored in Who’s Who Among High School Teachers, The National Honor Roll for Outstanding Teachers, and as the 2006 Local Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club Teacher of the Year.

Choirs under Mr. Ulrich’s leadership perform with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra twice each year, and have also performed with the Rochester Symphony several times and were the choral forces in the Canadian Premier of Play! at the Hummingbird Centre in 2006. The Chamber Singers have performed at the 2006 Michigan Music Conference, and both the Wind Ensemble and the Chamber Singers performed at the 2007 Michigan Music Conference. Music students from Stoney Creek have won significant performance competitions, including Youth Arts Festival Soloist Nominations, The Detroit Symphony Orchestra Idol Competition, and NATS competitions. Students have earned places in numerous All-State ensembles, and many have gone on to study music at the collegiate level.  Mr. Ulrich has presented sessions at MSVMA and Church Music Conferences, and is called upon as a clinician and adjudicator across the state. He is a member of MENC, MSVMA, MSBOA, and ACDA.
