Faculty Members:
| Frederick Tims, Ph.D., MT-BC, Professor, Director & Chair of the Music Therapy Area, is past president of what is now the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA), which awarded him the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2001. He also received the Article of the Year Award for his "Music Making and Wellness" article published in the "American Music Teachers" journal. |
| Roger Smeltekop, M.M., MT-BC, Associate Professor, Director of Music Therapy Clinical Services, is the former chair of the Certification Board for Music Therapists. He won the Outstanding Service Award from the Great Lakes Region of the American Music Therapy Association. |

Graduates of the Program
The majority of music therapy graduates are employed in mental health settings, special education facilities, and geriatric settings. MSU graduates can be found in prominent clinical and administrative positions, and on the faculties of prestigious colleges and universities around the globe. Rapidly developing areas of employment include private practice, medical settings, and the music industry.
