College of Music Job Placements

  • Carolyn Cruse, a music education doctoral student, accepted a tenure-track position as assistant professor of music at Texas Tech University. She will begin teaching in August 2008.
  • Jazz drummer Thaddeus Dixon, BM jazz studies 2006, and a former student of Randy Gelispie, accepted a position with recording artist Sean Kingston and has recently toured with artists Ne-Yo, the Spinners, and Carlos McKinney.
  • Tami Draves, a music education doctoral student, accepted a tenure-track position as assistant professor of music at University of Arizona beginning August 2008.
  • Tiffany Gridiron, a former jazz voice student of Sunny Wilkinson, is a Sony recording artist in Japan, 2008.
  • Andrew Hawks, a master's student of Jack Budrow, auditioned for and won a position as a substitute in the Indianapolis Symphony.
  • Jazz trumpeter Kristopher Johnson, BM jazz studies 2005, MM jazz studies 2007, a former student of Derrick Gardner, was appointed as a new member of the Count Basie Orchestra, 2008.
  • John Masserini, MM clarinet performance 1997, DMA clarinet performance 1999, was appointed to the University of Northern Arizona faculty.
  • Amanda McCandless, MM clarinet performance 2001, DMA clarinet performance 2004, was appointed to the Northern Iowa University faculty.
  • Gregory Oakes, BM clarinet performance 1993, was appointed to the faculty of the University of Kansas.
  • G. Andrew Seigel, DMA clarinet performance 2003, was appointed to the faculty at State University of New York in Fredonia.
  • Bridget Sweet, a music education doctoral student, accepted a tenure-track position as assistant professor of music at Bucknell University effective August 2008.
  • Jazz trumpeter Curtis Taylor, a student of Derrick Gardner, accepted a position with the Cyrus Chestnut Quintet, 2008, with whom he will be performing at the Spoleto Festival in South Carolina in May.
  • Jazz double bassist Benjamin Williams, BM music education 2007, and former student of Rodney Whitaker, was appointed as a new member of the Mulgrew Miller Trio, 2008 and is currently pursuing his master's degree at the Juilliard School of Music.
